Extra Dates for Sothern Egypt Wreck Trips
New trip dates for May and October are in the pipeline. Call for latest details.
Wrecks Open Up
During our December southern wreck trip we ended back (unexpectedly) at Safaga, The rear door of the SALEM EXPRESS has been ripped off , yes ripped off, so there is now an access point right through the car deck on the port side.
A similar situation has developed with the AL KAFHAIN although this does look natural
New Kid In Town
2009 went out with a bang, well on Woodhouse reef in the Straits of Tiran. This is the 240 m long HAMBURGH. She is currently well aground and local speculation is rife. Suggestions that she will be scrapped and sunk locally are fanciful at best. My sources indicate that the ship is not a total constructive loss and will be refloated and repaired.
The costs of sanitizing and making it safe to become a local attraction are huge-who would fund it, who would over see
it and where would they put it? Why Am I so sceptical???? the Hebat Allah!!!!!
Sadly the ship has now been refloated………………
Famous Maldives Wreck Reidentified
The Red Sea Wreck Academy recently undertook an expedition to the Maldives. One of our targets was the ARACAN, built in Scotland. She was reported to lie on GUIDOO, the Maldives equililant to Abu Nu Has.
Well we found her. However local historians wont like this; we located a makers plate on the steam windlass of the “ERALGEN” a German built vessel of the same era-and the inscription read
“PATENT STEAM WINDLASS MATTHEW PAUL& CO DUNBARTON 1871 NO. 84″
Needless to say this information confirmed that we were diving the ARACAN, not the EARALGEN.
So the good news is.. we still haven’t found the Eralgen………………………

look out for a new page on Truk, and an e book coming soon
The Russian Wreck – How She Sank
During our last visit (ref 5607) in December 2009, we had on board a marine architect-who immediately debriefed us on how she had been scuttled. We had assumed the holes in the stern were caused by an internal explosion, but our guest had figured out that the forward long range fuel tanks had been configured in such a way as to cause an explosion.
We are hoping to include a full report in the e book “The Russian Wreck”
we also found a room labelled “CHEMICAL LABORATORY”, hhhmmm wonder what that’s got to do with fishing
